WHO WE ARE

Grupo Experimental Multidisciplinar Autônomo = G.E.M.A. is an artist-led conceptual framework that acts as an open interdisciplinary interface to explore the city of Rio de Janeiro and its environs with collaboration of international research partners of arts, sciences and technology.

GEMA was idealized by the artists Ivan Henriques and Silvia Leal in 2007 in collaboration with urban designer Aline Couri and designer Rodrigo Amim amongst others. GEMA aims is to engage the public in the urban and natural environment through collaborative site-specific public and live arts, interventions and education programs. Everyone is invite to collaborate to this network. GEMA's most activity happened from 2007 until 2008

The viewer/listener is invited to experience the everyday environment in transformation, to contemplate art as exploration of landscape in constant flux.
